Pillar Candles
Some guidance and suggestions for your pillar candles.
Always burn pillars placed on an appropriate holder, and also on a protected, non-combustible, heat-resistant surface.
Pillar candles are designed to burn clean and evenly. If burned properly, the candle should self consume. We recommend to burn the candle on the initial lighting for a minimum of 3 - 6 hours (depending on the width of the candle). A good guide is to burn it within a pinky finger's width of the edge. This means you need to allow ample time to burn the candle, if you only have 20 minutes, don't light the candle. After the first burn always burn it at least 2 - 3 hours or until the wax pool fills to the edges. This process allows for an accumulation of heat to melt across the breadth of the candle and provide even burning throughout the life of the candle.
A pillar's wick is designed to form a carbon mantle when it burns. The carbon mantle should not be removed unless the flame is smoking. In this case, extinguish the candle and trim the wick to 1/4". Remove any carbon/wick trimmings from the wax pool.
Cold extinguished wicks are very brittle and can break off at the wax surface and leave nothing to re-light.
A grouping of burning pillars creates a stunning effect, especially when displayed in a fireplace or on a mantlepiece.
